Al\u00e9m disso, c\u00e9lulas-tronco neurais expressam fortemente GFAP.<\/p><p>Anticorpos para GFAP s\u00e3o muito \u00fateis como marcadores de c\u00e9lulas astroc\u00edticas. Al\u00e9m disso, muitos tipos de tumores cerebrais, presumivelmente derivados de c\u00e9lulas astroc\u00edticas, expressam fortemente GFAP. GFAP tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 encontrado no epit\u00e9lio do cristalino, c\u00e9lulas de Kupffer do f\u00edgado, em algumas c\u00e9lulas em tumores salivares e foi relatado em eritr\u00f3citos. GFAP \u00e9 usado como um marcador para distinguir astr\u00f3citos de outras c\u00e9lulas gliais durante o desenvolvimento.<\/p><p>Muta\u00e7\u00f5es neste gene causam a doen\u00e7a de Alexander, um dist\u00farbio raro de astr\u00f3citos no sistema nervoso central. O splicing alternativo do gene GFAP resulta em m\u00faltiplas variantes de transcri\u00e7\u00e3o que codificam isoformas distintas.<\/p><p>INTERPRETA\u00c7\u00d5ES<\/p><p>Este teste n\u00e3o inclui interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o patol\u00f3gica, apenas resultados t\u00e9cnicos da colora\u00e7\u00e3o.
